Symptoms and Dangers Tied to Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer symptoms are very basic - blood in the urine and a sudden change in urination habits. So why, then, are so many instances of the disease going undiagnosed?
Every year, over 54,000 cases of bladder cancer are diagnosed in America. And annually, over 12,000 people die from it. While the five-year survival rate is doing well at over 80%, that number could be higher if more instances of the disease were noticed and addressed early.

This is why understanding and detecting bladder cancer symptoms is so critical. To learn more about the different symptoms associated with the disease, along with possible risk factors - keep reading.
Symptoms of Bladder Cancer
Blood in the Urine: Blood in the urine is the single more important sign of bladder cancer. This symptom can also be associated with other diseases such as kidney cancer or gall stones, but is most common in bladder cancer.
Urination Patterns: Most people diagnosed with bladder cancer complain of a frequent urge to pee, possible urinary incontinence and difficulty making it through the night without having to use the bathroom multiple times. Unfortunately, most patients with bladder cancer are older and don't recognize this symptom as a potential indicator of a more serious problem.
Risk Factors for Bladder Cancer
Smoking: Like many cancers, smoking tobacco products is a major cause. In fact, smokers are twice as likely to develop the disease. Among men, smoking is the cause of 50% of bladder cancer deaths. In women, that number drops to 30%.
Cancer-causing substances (carcinogens) in tobacco smoke are absorbed from the lungs and get into the blood where they are filtered by the kidneys and concentrated in the urine.
Exposure at the Work Place: Aromatic amines, types of industrial chemicals which are often used in the dye industry, are considered a major cause of bladder cancer.

Other industries that use organic chemicals can also put workers at an increased risk - for example, rubber makers, leather factories, textiles and paint and printing companies.
Race: Bladder cancer is typically more common in Caucasians than other races.
Age: Most of the people diagnosed with bladder cancer are in their late sixties. In fact, less than a percent of people diagnosed are under 40. Essentially, the chances for developing the disease increase with age.
Chronic Bladder Problems: Patients who have a long-term history of kidney stones, urinary infections, bladder stones or other forms of chronic bladder irritation may be at an increased risk for developing bladder cancer.
If the risk factors listed above apply to you, it's important that you be able to not only recognize bladder cancer symptoms (bloody urine, changing urination habits), but that you also act on them and seek the advice of a physician.

What are some home remedies for a UTI?
catgirlsmine asked on Tue, 16 Dec, 2008
What are some good things to do at home to help cure or relieve a UTI (urinary tract infection)? I've heard that drinking tons of water and cranberry juice to acidify your urine and wash out the bacteria helps. Are there any other home remedies?
(note: I do believe in taking antibiotics, just looking for other things that'll help)

Wash yourself from front to back using anti-bacterial soap, and make sure you get all of the soap off of your skin when you're done. Stay dry, and drink acidic drinks and water. It may clear up on it's own. If it is not gone in a week or so, a doctor will give you a tablet to speed the healing process, but not necessarily anti-biotics.
It will probably heal on it's own. Be smart.:)

Not sure that there is much more to do except the water and cranberry juice. There are also those AZO pills that other people have told me help. I'm super prone to UTIs and I finally just started drinking a small glass of cranberry juice every day and haven't had a problem for over a year now.

Water to help wash out your system and cranberry juice to acidify are the only home remedies that may help. Many UTI are not cureable with home remedies.

Try this site for some solutions to help with drinks to try and what to avoid, also lists possible causes. There are many over the counter solutions but there is probably something to help sitting in your food cupboard. Cranberry is a favourite of mine but as it can be sour I buy the raspberry with cranberry. Home made barley water is good.

What is the simplest urinary infection remedy available? I was asked this question in an e-mail from a U.T.I. sufferer who has had repeated urinary infections for the past 3 years. She complained that continually paying for antibiotics that work for a couple months was not an option anymore. And I didn't blame her... She wanted to try natural health!

I wanted to share with you some bladder control advice on how you can get control back. There are a lot of people that suffer from this problem and it seems to be something that happens with time, as you get older. Your body starts to slow down, break down and just get weaker. Nowadays, several young children suffer from UTI. The infection occurs due to their inability to empty the bladder during urinary secretion.
